Behind the Boutique Kristina Nissen Moms are beautiful

I think all women are amazing, but today I’m confessing how utterly gorgeous I think moms are. Moms are stunning! That’s basically it in a nutshell 😉

There’s several reasons why I’m asserting this; but this post was specifically inspired over the weekend when I escaped my funhouse to get a gel manicure at my local nail salon (yes!). Semi is my go-to gal there. I’ve grown to know her and the other girls a lot over the last four years, but this time Semi told me a story about how her son (now in his 20’s) used to fall asleep on her chest every night when he was a baby and a toddler. I couldn’t help but pause and look at her majestically. I found myself admiring how there was such an important part of this woman that no one will ever really know. Her child(ren) surely won’t remember that stage in life; her spouse may not ever even fully understand. I thought about how many nights she probably stayed up to rock her son to sleep, nurse him, or soothe his discomfort. ‘How she committed herself and offered her body (quite literally) to mother that sweet baby without any expectation of anything in return (she has two other kids by the way).  Then I thought about how she woke up the next day, went to work, and spent a chunk of her day the same as everyone else. Behind the Boutique Before and After Upstairs Bathroom

Happy Day! Today I’m sharing some before and after photos of our upstairs bathroom!

This was actually the last room in the house that we got to. It took us over six months to finish (thank you, toddlers), but I think we finally finished it at the end of 2015 (we moved into the house mid-2011). There is a bathroom downstairs that we use more frequently because it has a shower (it’s a smaller clawfoot tub, but it has a shower kit). In this bathroom, we ultimately decided to leave all the plumbing where it was. We originally had grand dreams about moving things around and getting a shower kit for this bathroom, but the slanted wall really made it difficult to accommodate our fantasies. Also, by this time, my posture was: lets just get it DONE already. By this time we had already had both kids, and a second bath with more storage and space was much needed (the downstairs bath, although a full bath, is tiny). View Post
